Jewelry Makers Network

A gathering place for jewelry makers to share ideas, make friends, & to have fun

A friend asked me to make a necklace for a woman who lost her police officer husband in the line of duty earlier this year. The back of the heart has the names of the officer and his wife. I wanted this piece to have a subtle symbolism, so I drilled a hole in the heart for the hole in Suzanne's heart. The pearl symbolizes hope, so while there is a hole in her heart, there's also hope there as well. Including the slain officer, there are 5 people in their family, so there are a total of 5 pearls on the necklace.

Beads are freshwater pearls, black onyx, and SS, with all SS findings. Heart focal is handmade by my hubby and myself using purple heart wood (that's the natural color of the wood).
