Jewelry Makers Network

A gathering place for jewelry makers to share ideas, make friends, & to have fun

I too accidentally put this on the blog page!

I need some advice on how to keep bracelets from being pulled apart.  Not sure if it is crimp beads or wire I am using.

I am using 2mm crimp beads (copper or sterling) and beadalon 49 strand wire .015 inches.

The wire is pulling through the crimp bead.

If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it!!!!

Thanks,

Janelle

Make sure the crimp beads you are using are the right size for the wire. The beadalon package should say right on the front what size bead you need. Also, check if you are crimping properly. It is easy at first to make a mistake with the technique of crimping. Hope that helps.

Nicole's comment about the right size is great.  Also check to make sure you're crimping and then "folding" the crimped bead before you put a crimp cover on it.  I thought that first squish was all I needed to do but discovered that the second crimp is really important, too.

Pearl and crystal jewelry is a staple for any wardrobe. You can wear pearl and crystal beaded bracelets with both casual and formal attire. Pearl and crystal beads come in many colors, so you can design a bracelet to match anything in your wardrobe. You can make basic bracelets that consist of a simple string of beads or you can add a little flare to the bracelet with crystal charms.
