One other thing you might want to consider is renting a canopy for your first show.  Most rental places carry them.  Especially if you're not completely sure that you want to do outdoor shows.  That way you can get a "taste" before buying one.

Hi Linda.  The canopy you hear the most about and see used the most often is the EZ up.  As the name indicates, it's fairly easy to set up and you can purchase walls and accessories for it if and when you want to.  Look around on eBay for ideas.  I hear Costco carries canopies if you have one in your area.

One thing you want to make sure you do is weight down your corners so if the wind comes up your canopy doesn't take flight.  An inexpensive way is to take coffee cans, insert a chain or rope in the middle and fill with cement.  You can paint the cans white or whatever color your canopy is.  You can purchase weights as well that are made specifically for the canopies.

You might want to purchase a less expensive canopy until you determine whether or not you want to continue to do the outdoor craft shows.  You can always upgrade.  When I did the outdoor shows I used a canopy that had a clear skylight in the roof because I found that the jewelry needed as much light as possible to show it well.  Lighting is another thing you want to think about, especially if you're doing indoor shows.

I don't know if you already have your jewelry displays or not but eBay is a good place to get them.  Something to think about is the length of your necklaces.  I found that the taller easel-backed displays worked better for me than the bust type.  You can place more on a table and they show the jewelry well too.  They pack better too.  If you go to second hand stores you can find things that work well for jewelry displays too.  You just have to think outside the box and look at things a bit differently than what they were intended for orginally.  Get out your glue gun and cover flat boards with velvet for displays .  You can make your own easel displays just by adding the easel and some decorative hooks at the top of the board.  Pay attention to the back as well because it will be seen too.

Have fun!  Doing the shows is a different world and you'll meet lots of interesting people.  You'll pick up lots of ideas when you do your first one too.  Look around at the other vendors booths and see what they have used.

I am doing my first jewelry show. I am looking to invest in a canopy beacause it is outside. Do you have any feedback for me?I was wondering what kind of canopy should I use?  What do you use if any and where should I look for one?...lol Thanks!

LOL...Marcia. And yes I would love to list in your treasury, Chris. Let me know if you have a certain theme in mind or not, and I will send you an ID#/url.

Gonna reorganize this week.  Other sales - craft fairs and consignment are good- Etsy has never been good but I gotta get in there and do more to my store.  Also I've got the treasury bug.  If you want anything in one I'm putting together send me the id# or your url and I'll add an item.
